Production Manager

Location: Duncrue Food Processing Plant
Closing Date: 17th May 2022

To take responsibility for the management of all operations and production at Duncrue Food Processors and ensure high standards are maintained in plant performance, product quality, overall efficiency and staff management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To take responsibility for the day to day running of all aspects of production and improve performance and efficiency in line with current food health and safety and environmental legislation;
  • Maintain and improve site quality standards, SOP’s, internal site audits etc in line with HACCP and legal requirements;
  • Assist with BRC standard approval;
  • Plan and oversee the collection of raw material;
  • Play a key role in developing new processes to improve efficiency using the principle of Lean Management;
  • Take responsibility for the stock control system;
  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements;
  • Liaise with Human Resources and Health and Safety as appropriate on all related matters, and be aware of changes to the relevant legislations;
  • Prepare written reports and report them to the Management Board on a monthly basis;
  • Review all operational costs and budgets within your remit to minimise wastage;
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices and market changes;
  • Effective people management to ensure the smooth running of the Production function. 

The Person:

  • Have 3 years’ previous management / operations experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • The ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Be a creative and innovative thinker and have the ability to “think outside the box”;
  • Experience of overseeing the in Intake and/or Despatch function, preferably in a manufacturing environment;
  • Hold a 3rd Level Qualification in Business, Operation Management or similar;
  • Previous experience of BRC audits;
  • Experience managing supervisors and operational staff;
  • The ability to control costs, and apply to budget;
  • Understanding of current Health and Safety and Employment Legislation;
  • High attention to detail and accurate record keeping;
  • Excellent IT skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft products.

Preference will be given to those with:

  • Hold Train the Trainer;
  • HACCP Level 3;
  • Have a Food Qualification or being willing to undertake necessary training;
  • Previous transport planning experience;
  • NEBOSH Qualification.

A normal working week will be 40 hours.
