Lead Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for Developing, implementing and managing best practice engineering and maintenance solutions within White’s, covering efficient operation and control of plant, machinery and equipment, through maximising machine output and minimising production down time.

The Role:

  • Support the development of the systems and procedures within the department to create a ‘Lean’ working environment;
  • Ensure appropriate health and safety in all work activities and identify and implement improvements to work practices in relation to Health and Safety;
  • Assist in carrying out routine health and safety audits, improvement walks, accident & incident investigation & training to keep the site legally compliant with health and safety law;
  • Planning, costing and execution of process changes & new machinery/ production line projects;
  • Diagnosing, fault finding and repair of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering systems;
  • Planned Maintenance for both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering systems;
  • Development and improvements of maintenance methods for production equipment to optimise machine performance and output. 

The Person:

  • An Engineering qualification or time served apprenticeship;
  • Experience of both mechanical and electrical engineering;
  • A minimum four years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment;
  • Experience of interpreting engineering drawings;
  • An understanding of a range of production lines and packing equipment.
