Company Accountant

Reporting to the Agri Financial Controller, the Company Accountant will manage the finance team and take full responsibility for the end-to-end financial management of Fane Valley Stores based at our Head Office in Moira.

The Role:

  • Participate in formulating and delivering business strategy;
  • Maintain appropriate accounting records;
  • Ensure internal financial controls are sufficient and implemented;
  • Preparation of year end statutory accounts and manage the year-end annual audit process;
  • Prepare monthly management accounts which include the valuation of stock, reconciliation of accounts, calculation and analysis of margins and review of balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Preparation of the annual budget and regular profit forecasts;
  • Review cost performance against budget for all departments;
  • Preparing and submit VAT returns;
  • Manage all IT and business systems in the finance department and use these to drive business improvement.

The Person:

  • Qualified accountant holding ACA/ACCA/CIMA professional qualification;
  • Ideally have 3 years’ experience in a similar role in an industrial/retail environment;
  • Previous experience managing a finance team;
  • Possess excellent IT skills including MS Office Skills and in, particular, Excel;
  • Experience in implementing and developing IT systems with a view to ensuring that automation of the administration functions is fully maximised;
  • Excellent understanding of accounting processes, reporting abilities and the need for tight controls;
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan personal workload and adhere to strict reporting deadlines;
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience of accounting for acquisitions would be an advantage.
